Mums always have fruits available for the family and banana is one of our favorites. It is affordable and easily available in the market and fruit stands.
Most mums know that banana contains nutritious vitamins like A, B, and E, but what most of us do not know is that along with their vitamin content, bananas also contain acids that help exfoliate dead skin and so that makes it awesome for natural skincare.
Using banana alone for a beautiful skin is awesome, even the peels when rubbed on the face help with acne scars, but when mixed with other natural ingredients you can easily find in your kitchen, you can easily create a quick face mask that will rejuvenate and hydrate your dull, dry skin and make it glow.
Here’s how to make classic banana and honey face mask
Cut a ripe banana up into small pieces, and mash it in a bowl with a spoon or fork until you make a smooth paste.
Mix in 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional).
Stir all of the ingredients until they are nicely mixed.
The banana provides nutrients for the skin, the honey provides moisture, and the lemon juice acts as a natural astringent and exfoliate.
Wash your face with a light soap before you put on the mask to remove any makeup or impurities.
Apply the mask to your face using your fingers to massage the mixture all over your skin.
This face mask can be a bit drippy, so be sure to wear clothing you don’t mind getting soiled. I prefer to tie a towel instead and extend the mask to my neck region.
Leave the mask on for 10-20 minutes.
Rinse your face with lukewarm water, a washcloth, and no soap. You want to clear your face of the banana mask, but you don’t want to wash away its healthy benefits.
You can do this a few times a week. Natural face masks such as this can stay about a week when refrigerated, but just to be safe make a fresh paste every time.
Please note that you can make variations of banana mask using other natural ingredients like turmeric, cinnamon, avocado, etc, but it’s best to stick with what suits your skin type.
